Years 7 & 8                

Students are set in Year 7 after the first few lessons and are taught in half year groups until Year 9. The curriculum is mapped across Key Stage 3 based on the four ability profiles and students are taught the skills and understanding needed to start the GCSE in Year 9.

Years 9, 10 & 11   

The department aims to develop students’ skills in problem solving and independent thinking and to promote a love of mathematics by teaching the Edexcel specification. Students are encouraged to explore mathematics through studying a wide range of topics including Number, Algebra, Space, Shape & Measure and Data Handling and to acquire the skills needed to apply the theory they have learned to solve problems in the real world.
